Apparently Demuth spent a lot of his later years on watercolors like this one — fruit and vegetables, painted with the same precision people usually associate with his industrial scenes.
Erisava: This much care went into painting a cabbage. Why?

Apparently this whole thing started as a poem - a friend of his wrote about seeing a gold '5' clang past on a red fire truck, and this is the painted version of that.
