He trained in Paris alongside the modern crowd, and apparently the woman he later married went on to run one of the big New York galleries that sold this whole generation of American painters. This one came out of time spent in Spain.

He had rooms looking straight out at this view and painted it again and again across the years, from what I've read. This is one of the earlier goes, well before the colour got loud.
Erisava: It's all pink and grey sludge and the church is only just hanging on in it.
