Supposedly he once said he didn't paint animals, he painted light — which is a funny thing to claim when, from what I can tell, his whole career was ducks and cows beside ditches.
Erisava: Two ducks in the grass. I don't see how this earns a museum wall.

This was one of Homer's last big paintings, and it circles back to the hunting scenes that were part of his early career. They say he was working partly from an old Audubon engraving of birds in flight.
Erisava: This feels more like a hunting trophy than a painting for a museum wall.
